This is an exciting time to be in the Reno-Tahoe-Sparks region as it works to rebuild and change its image from gambling to the gateway to technology and the Silicon Valley. I am an Urban and Regional Planner by education, so I love watching the change and progress that this city is making! Northern Nevada sits central to 11 western states geographically for transportation and is only 3 ½ hours from San Francisco. It is tax and business friendly. Artown is an arts and cultural festival that encompasses events in downtown Reno for the entire month of July. A majority of the events are free to the public such as concerts in the park, Summer Soiree Series, dancing in the park and the list goes on.
This is one of my personal favorites. The Barracuda Championship formally known as The Reno Tahoe Open is a PGA golf tournament held each year at the Montreux Golf and Country Club, a Jack Nicklaus golf course. If you are a golfer this is a must see.
